Household chores can be daunting
The list of things that need to be done can pile up quickly.
Learning how to stay organized is the best way to stay on top of all that goes into being a homeowner.
And then, one day you find yourself among lots of dishes to wash, and a pile of clothes to iron.
On top of all that, you now need to make choices you’d never thought existed, like for example, what sheets are best for your bed: flat or fitted?
Folding fitted sheets requires finesse.
While both have their pros and cons, fitted sheets are considered to be better than their flat counterpart because they protect the mattress more effectively.
They absorb better the oils that leave our bodies during the night, and they are also easier to apply.
Besides all that, they’re easily removed, while they also offer a smooth sleeping surface, making your sleep much more enjoyable.
The con?
When it comes to folding, ironing, and storing, though, fitted sheets can be annoying.
But it doesn’t have to be.
There is actually an easy way to do it and, we’re pretty sure that after you watch this video you’ll consider replacing all your sheets with fitted ones.
A fitted sheet folding genius
In the video below, Jill Cooper is showing how we should properly fold our fitted sheets so that they look neat as they should.
Also, by folding fitted sheets instead of just wadding them, you’ll save storage room and your closet will look much tidier.
In fact, Cooper calls folding a fitted sheet “one of the biggest challenges” in life.
So, how do you properly fold a fitted sheet?
Tuck the corners
The main idea is that you tuck the four corners into each other, just like the lady shows in the video.
As Cooper shows, you begin by holding your sheet lengthwise with your right side towards your body. Then you pick up all the corners and tuck them in on one side.
Then, you straighten the two edges and take your sheet to a table.
You flatten all the sides and fold the sheet in thirds. Continue until you have a properly folded sheet.
Keep in mind that for a king- or queen-sized bed you might need to fold in fourths.
Cooper admits the process might feel awkward at first and, of course, just like anything you do for the first time, it will take some time and practice to master.
But it’s definitely worth it.
And, while it might seem time-consuming, Cooper highlights that it takes the same amount of time to find the proper sheets in a closet full of wadded sheets.
