When it comes to cleaning, there are just certain rooms that most people want to avoid.

For many people, that room is the bathroom. There are a lot of germs and other gross things in the bathroom, but if you don’t clean it, who will?

Even when you do clean it, it can be hard to get rid of all the dirt, grime, and stains.

Even the best bathroom products can’t get rid of that dirt that is deep in your tile or that ring around the bathtub. Maybe the problem is that you shouldn’t be buying bathroom cleaners; you should be making them yourself.

When you make your own cleaning supplies, you have more control over what goes into them and you can decide how potent to make them.

If you need to focus on cleaning the toilet bowl, you can make your own cleaning solution for that, too.

These directions come from Of Life and Lisa, and the best part about this cleaning product is that you don’t even have to scrub it. It works so well that you can just pour a little in your toilet and it will do all the work itself. Here’s how to make it.

Ingredients:

  • 16-Ounce Mason Jar
  • White Vinegar
  • 1/4 Cup Dawn Dish Soap
  • Blue Food Dye (Optional)
  • Drill or Hammer and Nails

Directions:

Step 1: Drill two holes in the lid of a mason jar. This is how the water will empty into the tank.

Step 2: Remove the lid and add ¼ cup of dish soap.

Step 3: Fill the jar the rest of the way up with vinegar.

Step 4: Add a few drops of blue food dye to the jar. This will let you know that the solution is working and also tell you when it is running low and the jar needs to be refilled.

Step 5: Screw the lid on the jar tightly.

Step 6: Flush the toilet and put the jar in the bottom of the tank with the lid down. Do this quickly, before the tank fills up with water.

Step 7: Flush the toilet and check to see if the water turns blue. If it does, you will know that the solution is working properly. Every time you flush, your toilet will get cleaned.

A lot of people don’t realize how easy it is to make your own cleaning products.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on products in the store. Sometimes the simple products work the best. Before you buy more chemicals to clean your bathroom, check your cabinets for some of the ingredients used in these products, and think about making your own.
