The BOLT YouTube channel shared an incredibly fascinating (and satisfying!) timelapse video of a man meticulously clearing out a very overgrown backyard.

The video has racked up over 2.4 million views, and we’re certain that it’s giving people inspiration to do the same.

The backyard that the man has to tackle can be first seen to be a massive mess of shrubs, weeds, and plants. He calls his mission, the ‘Backyard Jungle Clean-Up’.

As the camera shifts to an aerial view, you can see that this man has a lot of work ahead of him.

For most people, we really wouldn’t know where to start. Grasshopper Gardens suggests these handy tips, which the man in the video is clearly following.

Step one, according to Grasshopper Gardens, when clearing up an overgrown yard is, “Work in stages. At first glance, spending a day or two clearing a yard that has become overgrown may seem like the best route.

However, depending on the severity and work that needs to be done, this is a lot to do in a day, even two days, unless you have a team of professionals handling the job for you.

The yard is filled with greenery and there is ivy crawling over the fence.

He will most certainly need to take this project in steps. So, he decides to start by clearing out the central area, which will allow him to walk through the yard more easily.

Now that he can make his way over to the fence, it’s time to get to work on all of that climbing ivy that has started to take over the wooden fence.

With some heavy-duty gardening shears and some elbow grease, he starts to strip away all of the ivies, and clear away shrubs that had made the fenceline home.

Slowly but surely, the fence can finally be seen underneath all of those plants, shrubs, and weeds!

It’s got to feel satisfying to start seeing progress on such a huge mess.

Once everything has been trimmed off the fence and cut down to a manageable height, the man needs to start hauling out yard debris, load-by-load.

As you can see, with as many plants had been growing back there, it was definitely going to take him a few trips to the yard debris bin.

Now, according to Grasshopper Gardens, he’s moved onto step 2, which is ‘remove the debris’.

“Depending on how long the yard has gone without being maintained, the amount of debris that needs to be removed will vary. Whether the debris is litter or fallen pine cones, it will need to be removed before mowing begins, removing plants, defining areas, or putting in new plants,” they say.

He’s definitely made some serious progress at this point!

The only task left at hand is to rake up all of the rest of the small pieces of debris, you can finally start seeing the dirt and the ground of the backyard!

The blank slate is slowly starting to be revealed.

The hours pass and he continues to rake and rake—then there’s some more raking. But, all of that hard work finally pays off. Look at what a difference he’s made!

With a few more finishing touches — the yard went from jungle to a beautiful open space full of potential!
