We could all use a little help sometimes, and this easy project will help give your favorite seeds a place to sprout. You’ll need some basic items like empty jars, chalk paint, masking tape, rocks, potting soil, and of course, seeds!
First, you’re going to clean the labels off of your jars. After that, you’ll paint a chalk label so you can remember exactly what plant you’re growing (masking tape helps ensure it comes out straight). Finally, you’ll layer the rocks, seeds, and soil to create an adorable countertop garden.

Wine Cork Mini Planters
You can bring some greenery to your refrigerator door with these fun little planters. All you have to do is drill a hole in your leftover wine corks, then glue a small magnet on the side of each one. Add soil, a teeny succulent plant, and voila! Stick these guys all-around your kitchen for a creative indoor display.
Self-Watering Seed Starter
Not all of us were born with green thumbs, but fortunately, this clever DIY will do the “watering” for you. Stop tossing your old toilet paper rolls and start giving them a whole new purpose! Simply cut four tiny slits on one end, then fold it up like a cardboard box. Now, fill the roll with soil and seeds – water, and wait.
Once your plants have begun to grow, you can easily transfer them into bigger pots by burying the tubes (with the plants peeking out of the surface). What’s great is that the tubes are biodegradable!
Tin Can Planters
If you have some old tin cans in your kitchen, this idea will help you transform them into stunning new planters. All you have to do is poke some drainage holes and freshen them up with paint. Then, add your favorite flowers. Who knew making a creative indoor garden could be so easy?
Soda Can Planters
There are a lot of pretty neat cans out there, and now you can display them with these festive cacti planters! Cut the tops off the aluminum cans, create drainage holes on their bottoms, and carefully plant a cactus (or another desired plant) in each one. Now that’s what I call conversation pieces.
Plastic Bottle Planters
This project is a fantastic way to make two separate planters, all with one 2-liter soda bottle. First, cut the bottle horizontally in two. With some yellow paint, a sharpie, rocks, and a green plant – you can transform the lower half into a pineapple pot! Isn’t he cute?
For the upper half of the bottle, punch several holes along the cut edge. Next, tie strings in each hole to create a DIY hanger. Add a plant to the bottle and that’s it! Now you just have to find a neat place to hang it up.
