It can be difficult to find the right flower pot for your plants.
Since they come in so many different sizes, it’s tough to find the one that’s right for you.
But you don’t want to always have to run to the store and select a new flower pot every time you get new plants.
Or, if you’re looking for something more unique, maybe it’s time to make a flower pot at home.
If you’ve got a few items around, this project is great for you.
First, you’re going to want to get a few egg trays.
You should have about 5 of the same size, so if you’ve got some mismatched ones, just cut away a few rows of the trays to make them all uniform.
To make a big flower pot, you should have a few of them. Arrange them all so that they’re pretty close together. This will make it easier to assemble.
Mix your cement, it’s easier than it looks. To make this mixture, you’re going to want a ratio of three parts sand to one part cement. Combine them in a mixing bowl or pail.
When that’s all mixed together, start slowly adding water to create a sticky substance.
Then, you can begin putting the cement into the egg trays.
Cover the egg trays in a thick layer of cement.
Use a shovel to make sure that the cement’s surface is smooth and without blemishes.
After 24 hours, you can remove the cement from the egg tray and you should have a nice solid mold to make your flower pot.
Begin to assemble the flower pot.
Now that your cement can be separated from the egg trays, start arranging the slabs.
Stand each cement slab up on its side and arrange the cement into a hexagon.
The bumpy design from the egg trays should be on the outside. Then connect and secure these slabs with more cement.
A flowerpot isn’t complete without a bottom.
You need something to make sure the dirt doesn’t fall out and get your house messy.
These guys show you how to finish the pot by first filling it with sand, leaving only a sliver at the top.
This is going to be the space where you put more wet cement.
Make a little hole in the center of the wet bottom so that water will be able to drain out of your plants.
While the cement is still wet, add some feet made from plastic bottles. You can just press them down into the cement and they will stay.
When all the cement is dry, flip it over. The dirt can just pour out and everything will hold together.
Now you have a cool and unique flower pot that you made easily with at-home items.
Finish by adding your favorite flower or plant. The homemade pot is perfect for a wide variety of greenery.
