Why work harder when you can just work smarter?

You shouldn’t.

That’s why “life hacks” exist. They help us get things done more efficiently.

Google “life hacks” and you can find all sorts of time, money, and effort-saving tips that will help you cook, clean, invest, and just about anything else you can think of.

But you’ll quickly find that most of them aren’t as useful as they make themselves out to be.

At best, they don’t work and are just a waste of time.

At worst, they’ll make whatever task you were trying to make easier a lot harder.

But the life hacks offered by TikToker @jmg8tor, who calls himself “Gator,” are pretty legit.

One of his recent hacks can save you lots of frustration in the future.

You’ll definitely want to make sure you know this hack if you’re the one doing the home improvements around your home.

If that’s you, then you know how stressful it can be to try and screw something in at an awkward angle.

It can be downright maddening when the screw slips.

Or worse, your multiple attempts can leave you with a stripped screw. But Gator has a solution for you.

And it doesn’t require a trip to the hardware store or any fancy tools.

You just need to take a trip to the junk drawer.

You know the draw in your house, probably the kitten, that’s packed with a bunch of random, well, junk.

Salt and pepper packets, rubber bands, chopsticks, chip clips… that kind of stuff.

Hopefully, in that drawer, you also have a straw.

“Sometimes you get these stupid little screws in your packages to put things on. Won’t stay on your screwdriver, falls off all the time. Get you a straw. Slide it over your screwdriver, then put your screw on there, and use the straw to hold it on while you reach back to screw something in. “

The straw has to be wide enough so that your screwdriver can slide through it and short enough to end where your screwdriver ends.

When you slide the screwdriver through and place the screw at the end, the straw will help to steady your screw, so you don’t drop it.

It also helps you to keep a tighter angle.

Just be sure that you’re using your screwdriver safely.

“Do not lean or push on a screwdriver with any more force than necessary to keep contact with the screw. A screw properly piloted and fitted will draw itself into the right position when turned. Keep the shank directly over the screw being driven,” the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety advises. “Do not hold the stock in one hand while using the screwdriver with the other. If the screwdriver slips out of the slot, you may cut your hand.”
