Man turns a plain work truck into an incredible studio apartment on wheels that’s hidden in plain sight
The truck is so deceivingly plain from the outside that you'd never guess it has a home inside.

After spending years of living in the city renting a proper home, along with five roommates, Jason decided that he just had to change his life.

Having in mind that, sooner or later he’d start a program at grad school, and given that the rent in the city has gone higher than he could afford, he decided to abandon the traditional home idea and go for something more alternative.

In fact, he built a stealth studio out of a work truck, and he has been living there for more than a year now.

When Jason had this idea, he was not sure how he would make it happen, but he was determined to build this thing.

So, he hired a friend to design the home, and then he built most of it himself.

On the outside, it looks like a plain old work truck, and it doesn’t even hint the existence of a real house on the inside.

Jason, in the video below, is taking us on a tour of his stealth studio, giving away all the secrets of his urban home.

At the back of the van, there’s a door that, when pulled down, becomes a patio and a garage at the same time. Jason usually rides his bike around the city, so this serves as a place where he keeps all the necessary tools for keeping his bike in a good condition.

At times, it has also served as a stage for several musicians, as Jason explains.

On the outside, there’s also a spot that looks like a vent, but is really a window from where he can enjoy the urban or mountain views, depending on where he’s parked at.

It is really important to make the van look as ordinary as possible, because this is how you can avoid unwanted visitors.

Moving on to the inside, the house begins right behind the driver’s cabin. It’s a small studio, but it is really functional and it has anything that Jason needs right now.

There’s a kitchen where he keeps a microwave, his few utensils, and a sink.

Right opposite the kitchen, there’s the living space, also known as a couch, where he enjoys hanging out and listening to his favorite music.

Above the kitchen and couch there are numerous cabinets where he can keep the stuff he needs. He also has a desk where he spends time doing remote work and where he’s planning on working once he starts grad school.

The best part is the loft, where his bedroom is. A full size mattress, lots of pillows, and many built-in cubbies around for him to keep books or clothes comprise his bedroom, which is his favorite “room”.

Building the home, Jason had as a priority to make it functional and to make it as unnoticeable as possible. After all, this is the point of having a stealth van.

The man has been enjoying every moment there and he won’t be moving out any time soon!
