It seems like everyone is a fan of hot sauce these days. And if you’re a fan of hot sauce, you probably put it on just about everything. There are endless dishes and recipes that call for hot sauce and make our mouths water.

But did you also there are non-culinary uses for hot sauce?

There are actually plenty of ways you can use hot sauce that you’ve never heard of. From deterring bugs to helping soothe a tummy ache, here are some of our favorite ways to use hot sauce around your home.

On the Spot Crying or Sweating

Are you putting on a theatrical production or just trying to lay it on thick? If you’re acting and need to cry or sweat on the spot, you can eat some hot sauce to quickly get your liquids flowing.

Fight Indigestion

Hot sauce contains capsaicin which helps to stimulate your stomach to produce the fluids necessary to soothe an upset stomach. It also kills gastrointestinal problem causing stomach bacteria like H. Pylori. Just be careful that your stomach discomfort isn’t caused by an ucler because hot sauce could aggrevate that ulcer.

Stop Squirrels From Eating Birdseed

Squirrels are known to take over your bird feeder and eat up all the seeds in sight. You can add a few drops of hot sauce to your birdseed to prevent squirrels from eating it all up on you. The birds won’t be deterred by it.

Deter Insects On Your Plants

Are insects destroying your vegetation? Mix two tablespoons of hot sauce with a few drops of dish detergent and a quart of water and pour into a spray bottle. You can spray this on your plant leaves to deter garden mites, caterpillars, worms and other insects.
