Senior makes most of living on fixed income with beautifully built tiny home
I could spend forever and a day in that sunroom and not get tired of it. No wonder Gloria is enjoying her retirement so much. She built a beautiful home. 😍

Many people say they would love to join the tiny house movement lifestyle.

That is until it comes times to give up our standard “creature comforts” we’re so used to having. You know, as in space and materials?

Not to mention it can be harder to leave the city life for a rural one than people think.

Really, it’s like two different worlds.

People have to leave most of their furniture behind, as well as clothes and shoes, and other items that just won’t fit in their new, significantly smaller, homes.

But it doesn’t have to be so.

For a woman who has moved from her 1,800 square feet into a tiny home in the Incredible Tiny House Community in Tennessee, “going tiny” didn’t necessarily mean leaving most of her stuff behind.

As Gloria explained, once she found herself alone in a giant home that she didn’t even make the most of, she realized it might be time to change her lifestyle.

Gloria is on a fixed income now.

So, Gloria looked up tiny homes, and she came across this particular community. It looked perfect for her and her small furry friends.

She told Tiny House Giant Journey:

“Going tiny, it was mostly about affordability to me. I’m 72, I’m on fixed income. I can’t afford to buy a big house and live that grand life, when I can have all the same things on a smaller scale…”

Gloria contacted the community founders, who also happen to be builders.

Together, they designed and built a home that was exactly what she wanted and needed at the time.

320 square feet of perfection.

The inside of the house is as small as 320 square feet, but she has made sure to make the most of it and take advantage of every little corner in order to make her living as comfortable as possible.

However, she soon realized that she didn’t want to leave certain pieces of furniture behind.

So, she had the builders build a sun deck for her so that her favorite furniture could find a place to start a new life.

In the video below, this sweet lady is taking us on a tour around her house, which to some may not look exactly tiny.

It’s actually 1/5 of the house she once owned.

Gloria is most proud of her sunroom.

She has her comfortable sofas and armchairs there, along with her beautiful Christmas tree, or the “lady” as she calls it.

This is where she welcomes her friends every morning for coffee and a nice chat, while it can sometimes be a meeting place for an evening drink.

The inside of the house is really cozy.

Her bed is right next to the window and by the fireplace, which makes it extra warm.

The kitchen has all the stuff.

It’s got all the tools she needs for cooking and, as she admits, Gloria does a lot of cooking.

The shower is very comfortable, while the toilet is designed in a way so that it’s not too cramped, but it also doesn’t take more space than it needs.

She also has a custom storage loft.

She uses a pull-up ladder for access.

Gloria has also made sure to fill her garden with the herbs and veggies she so much loves to grow, and she has also created a safe “playground” for her tiny dogs to protect them from coyotes and bears that can sometimes make an appearance.

We are in love with this beautiful home. How about you?
