Imagine transforming a simple trip to the hardware store into a weekend project that not only adds a dash of color to your garden but also serves as a testament to your creativity.

That’s precisely what this DIY endeavor accomplishes, using nothing more than concrete, tiles, and a few household items.

The project kicks off with a visit to the local hardware store to pick up white and black tiles, and a detour to Walmart for red, black, and white gems.

Once you’re back home, the real fun begins. The project is best done outdoors, and the first step involves preparing your workspace. A plastic lining is placed in a bowl to protect it from the concrete mixture.

The concrete is then prepared in a separate bowl, with the amount varying depending on the size of the bowl you’re using.

Water is added to the concrete, and the mixture is stirred until it reaches the right consistency.

Safety is paramount, especially when working with concrete.

While the video demonstrates the process without hand protection for smaller bowls, it emphasizes the importance of wearing gloves for larger projects.

Once the concrete mixture is ready, it’s poured into the lined bowl and set aside to harden.

After about 24 hours, the concrete sets, and it’s time for the artistic part of the project.

The plastic lining is carefully removed, and any imperfections are smoothed out.

A special Ready Mix concrete patch is applied as both a primer and adhesive, ensuring that the subsequent layers adhere well.

The design phase is where your creativity truly shines.

The video outlines the face of a ladybug on the concrete bowl using a simple sketch. Circles are drawn for the eyes and spots, and lines are used to define the ladybug’s body.

This serves as a guide for placing the tiles and gems.

Breaking the tiles is an art in itself.

Wrapped in a canvas blanket, the tiles are shattered using a metal tool, creating pieces of varying sizes.

These pieces are then meticulously arranged on the concrete bowl, adhering them with a combination of Gorilla Glue and the concrete patch.

The gems add the finishing touch, filling in the gaps and adding a sparkle to the ladybug’s eyes.

The entire design is then sealed with another layer of the concrete patch. A wet towel is used to wipe off any excess, ensuring a clean finish.

The result is nothing short of magical—a family of concrete ladybug bowls that are as adorable as they are functional. These bowls can serve multiple purposes, from garden décor to functional planters.

The creative person behind the video also shows another DIY project for her garden.

In this one, she creates a putty-like substance, dyes it red, and stamps a lacy pattern into it to create lovely stepping stones.

Both projects look so beautiful in her garden, and they’re simple to do as well.
