It’s not just a condiment that tastes good on sandwiches or in a delicious salad. Mayonnaise has lots of different applications and can help with all sorts of tasks around the house.
From cleaning to killing bugs, to stopping squeaks, the uses for mayonnaise are numerous.

Get Gum Out of Your Hair
Put those scissors away! You can easily get gum out of your hair with the use of some mayonnaise. Just rub some mayo on the gum itself and the hair around it. Once it’s properly coated you should be able to easily slide it out.
Remove Tree Sap
Coat the sap stain with some mayo and leave it there for a few minutes. You can wipe it away with a soft rag and the sap will be gone.
Polish Silver
Mayonnaise makes for a great silver polish. The acidity will remove your tarnish and the oil will leave a beautiful shine.
Get Crayon Off Your Walls
Use a damp cloth and some mayo to remove crayon from your walls.
Skin Moisturizer
If you have a dry patch of skin that you immediately want to moisturize, you can rub some mayonnaise on it. Let it sit for 10 minutes before you rinse it off.
Dust Your Houseplants
Use a little mayo to dust the leave of your house plants. This will give them a great luster.
Condition Your Hair

Silence a Squeaks
If your door hinge is squeaking, you can lubricate it with mayonnaise and move the hinge around so it full coats it. This should stop it from squeaking.
Remove Tar
Tar can seem impossible to remove, but not without mayo. Just cover the tar stain with some mayonnaise and let it sit. When you wipe it away with a cloth, the tar should come up with it.
Kill Head Lice
You don’t have to use lots of chemicals to get rid of head lice. Coat your hair in mayo, comb it through, and place a shower cap over it and leave it on over night. In the morning you can shampoo and rinse it.
Remove Sticker Gunk
If you have a sticker or price tag that didn’t come off cleanly, you can rub some mayo on it and allow the oil to dissolve the sticky stuff left behind.
Cuticle Softener
Coat your nails in some mayonnaise and let them soak for a bit. This will help to moisturize your cuticles. The protein in the mayo will also help to make your nails stronger.
Relieve Sunburn
If you don’t have any aloe and need some temporary relief from you sunburn, you can try slathering some mayo on yourself.
Minimize Cracks in Wooden Furniture
You can rub some mayonnaise into the cracks of your wooden furniture and wipe off the excess. The crack should shrink within a few days making it less noticeable.
Food Substitute
Mayonnaise can be used a substitute for other foods in your recipes. It can be used in place of butter and is great for frying up a grilled cheese sandwich. Three tablespoons of mayo can be substituted for one egg. You can also use mayo instead of tofu in a dressing, dip, or sauce.
