Tiny homes are becoming more and more popular as the housing market goes up. While that’s one reason people are bringing their inner carpenter skills out, others just want to live a more minimalistic lifestyle.
It’s amazing to see how inventive people get building their tiny homes.
I mean, who would have that you could do so much with such a tiny space? People build their charming homes using shipping containers, house trailers, or just good old lumber and nails.
A 20-year-old named Tom learned all kinds of things through building his very own tiny home and now he’s able to give us the grand tour!
Tom was 17-years-old when he started building his tiny home in Bristol England. He was thinking more long-term than your average teen and saw how high prices are to own a home.
Even just to pay rent every month is a struggle and Tom didn’t want to deal with that headache.
So he began building a tiny home on a beautiful stretch of property that happened to be his grandparents. Tom built his house on a trailer hitch so he’d have a solid and also moveable structure in case he needed to go elsewhere.
It also helped that young Tom was an aspiring carpenter at the time.
He had little knowledge of how to do a project like this but learned a lot more along the way. Like most people who pick up any restoration van or tiny home project, they learn so much throughout the build.
Even if you think you’re a pretty skilled craftsman there are always surprises that seem to pop up. But that’s the fun part, right?
Tom is now a licensed carpenter and gained a lot of his experience building a tiny home. He repurposed most of the materials used for his awesome little cottage which adds to its sentiment. When you build something like this from scratch you can’t help but feel attached to its story.
Tom made sure to keep a budget when creating his dream tiny home and for only £6,000 (7.8K in US dollars) Tom now has a special place to call home.
As beautiful as the outside of this tiny home is, just wait until you take a look inside! Tom’s tiny home has everything you’d want and more.
The entertainment space is perfect for cozying up on the couch and watching a movie.
For those chillier nights, he’s even got a nice wood fireplace to keep it warm. But wait until you see the kitchen!
It has a gorgeous repurposed wood countertop with a huge window to view the garden or even crack open on a summer day.
His bedroom gives the home a cute treehouse feel with just the pull of a string a ladder comes down so he can climb right into bed. The little room area even has a tiny window to make it feel more spacious.
There’s no denying Tom did an amazing job with the amount of space he has in his tiny home.
It turns out us humans really don’t need all of that stuff that’s stowed away in the garage. But the minimalist lifestyle isn’t for everyone… especially for anyone with claustrophobia.
On the contrary, a tiny home could be the perfect fit for you and there are so many helpful tutorials and tips online to make that dream become reality.
Tom now lives completely debt-free and can put all of his focus towards creating his carpenter enterprise. I’m so happy we got to get a tour of this adorable English tiny home.
