Looking for a cheap house doesn’t come by easily these days. If you ever get one, it needs a lot of work. All those savings you had buying the house would go to home improvement costs – which are sometimes very costly.
A House for Joey
Austin Flipsters videographer Joey found this home in Austin, Texas. The house costs $355,000 but he only paid $18,000 for it through bank financing, and he had to pay the rest monthly.
The house looked old and outdated. The good thing is that Joey works for a team who can upgrade this home for him. The best part? They are flipping this house for free as their gift for Joey.
Let us walk you through the amazing transformation.
Painting the Exterior
The moment you pull up from the front yard, the color would throw you offer. It’s as if the previous owner had so many ideas but could not choose which one to go for and ended up applying all those. There were bricks, stones, and bright blue paint.
What they did to improve this was to paint everything with an elegant color scheme. The stone wall was painted white and the window frames black. The rest of the exterior had some gray accents. Those alone made a huge difference in how the house looked from the inside.
Open Concept
The indoors weren’t as bad, though. There was this open-space concept in the living room, dining, and kitchen.
The team improved the look by changing the floorboards and the ceiling. They added modern-looking furniture and painted part of the fireplace black giving it a more sophisticated look.
The dining table wasn’t as big, so they utilized the space with a round table that could fit four people. The accent wall painted in a darker hue created an illusion that the room was wider and taller.
They didn’t change much in the kitchen, but they splurged on this part a bit by adding quality marble countertops and upgrading the appliances. What seemed like a little change elevated the entire look of the kitchen.
Second Floor Renovations
The second floor had three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including the master bedroom. While the bedrooms just needed a slight TLC, the bathroom needed a massive facelift.
To save on cost, they used tiles on the floor only and used paint for the walls which made it easier to match with the bathroom cabinets. They upgraded the sink and all the accents to give it an updated look.
The bedrooms were easier to renovate by changing the carpet, ceiling, and paint. Add some modern-looking furniture and it was good to go.
The Final Surprise
The biggest surprise for Joey was the outdoor area which had a bigger patio. The place looked more spacious and inviting especially for family and friends who wanted to come over. It’s a great place for barbecue, too.
But the sweetest part of this house flip surprise was that Joey’s sister reached out to the Austin Flipsters team to give her brother a housewarming gift he would love: the furniture! She chose and bought them for him to welcome Joey to his new home.
