Most tiny homes are designed to fit all of your necessities and not a drop more. Tiny living usually means having to downsize on personal possessions in order to gain personal and financial freedom. Unless you’re the Engberg’s, that is.
When Joshua and Shelley Engberg built their tiny home, they decided to think outside the box. Using a bit of ingenuity, they created a beautiful, mobile tiny home that certainly doesn’t lack in modern amenities.
The Engberg’s are the owners of Tiny House Basics, so they’re no stranger to inspiring others to move to a ‘tiny living lifestyle.’ Their creative ideas and tips in their books and on their website prove that living ‘small’ doesn’t have to mean cramped living quarters and minimum belongings.
Although the 374-sq-ft home is mobile, the Engberg’s have settled in a location complete with an extended wood deck. A long vertical window with drop down counter creates an outdoor breakfast bar, perfect for entertaining.
Now, let’s take a look inside.
Although the mobile home is narrow, its space comes from the length, as well as the very tall ceilings. There’s plenty of room for the couple and their two dogs.
From this view (above), you can see the upstairs sleeping loft, kitchen, and the breakfast bar window to the left. There is a matching breakfast bar on the inside to seat even more guests while entertaining.
The kitchen features full-size appliances, including an oven, which is rare for tiny and mobile homes.
In addition to the beautiful appliances, the Engberg’s made sure to include lots of counter space and storage.
Standing in the kitchen, looking at the opposite direction of the home, there is an additional loft that’s used as a closet, changing area, and vanity.
Next to the ladder (that is actually a sliding door to the bathroom) is the couple’s wood burning stove underneath the television.
Slide the ladder over to reveal the small, but functional bathroom.
The 42-square-foot bathroom has a corner shower, composting toilet, and combo washer and dryer.
In the closet loft, there is 7ft of hanging space, along with eight small dresser drawers for folded clothing.
Climb up the handmade wooden staircase to reach the cozy and comfy sleeping loft at the opposite end of the home.
There are small windows on each of the loft’s three walls. Perfect to let in a summer night’s breeze.
Between the home’s indoor/outdoor breakfast bar, clever loft spaces, or full kitchen, it’s hard to decide on our favorite part of the home. View more pictures and follow the Engberg’s on their tiny lifestyle adventure on Instagram.
