Over the last few years more and more people opt for dumping their big urban homes and move into tiny houses.

These are usually situated in rural areas in the hope they will provide a less stressful life while saving money.

One couple has figured it out.

A little more than two years ago, Sarah and Brandon decided to go tiny and live a life closer to nature, free from the stress that big cities come with.

What is extra special about this couple’s decision, though, is that they decided to buy a floating home on a lake.

And, on top of that, they decided to buy a house they’d never seen the inside of.

They bought it sight unseen.

You see, the couple saw the listing for a floating home in Lake Fontana, North Carolina, and it looked fine on the outside.

So, they figured it would be good to live in after they painted the walls on the inside.

They were in for some “surprises”.

When they actually got the keys and arrived at their new home, they admit they couldn’t even open the door fully because of how much trash there was inside.

The house was far from habitable.

In fact, they had to fully renovate it by themselves.

Sarah and Brandon spent three months working on the renovation, dedicating every weekend to basically rebuilding the whole thing.

As they jokingly say, what they really kept from the original house was the roof.

They changed everything to make living in their tiny 225-square-foot home as comfortable as possible.

Three months later, they were home.

As Brandon and Sarah explain, they mainly live on the outside of the house, and that’s why they tried to make the deck as cozy and comfortable as possible.

They both take boats to work.

And when they get back home, they spend most of the evening outside.

Their floating home is tied to the bank of the lake, but this is a tricky job because they need to always make sure that they keep the same depth underneath them.

The interior is cute and cozy.

It features a small kitchen which is part of the living room, where they have a big couch so that they feel as cozy as possible.

As they say, they went for “nautical cozy” when they designed and decorated their floating home.

Further inside is the bedroom.

This basically consists of a bed, under which they have placed two drawers so that they can store their clothes.

Finally, there’s a bathroom with a nice shower, toilet, and washer-drier.

They keep it warm and powered.

They mostly use propane for energy, but they also have solar panels on the roof, while they use water from the lake to drink, which, of course, they filter.

As for keeping warm, they have recently bought a small wood stove, which has proved to do a great job so far.
