Don’t have a green thumb, but want something green to liven up your space? Here is a tutorial on how to make clay succulents that require no care at all! These are fun and easy to make, and will last forever. Try making different types of succulents and paint them any color you want. Give it a go!
What You Will Need
- a small cup or pot
- polymer clay
- small rocks
- paint
Getting Started
Cut your polymer clay into 5 small, equal sized pieces. Then shape them into ear drop/leaf shapes as shown in the picture below. You will need 5 of these, then make 4 pieces the same shape but smaller, and 3 even smaller and slightly rounder pieces totaling to 12 pieces.
Create a flat circle with a piece of clay. This will be the base. Place the 5 largest leaves on top of the circle, then the 4 smaller ones on top of the 5 leaves, and finally the 3 smallest ones on the very top and middle.
Bake it in the oven on 210 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes. After baking and cooling, paint it green. Use a sponge to paint the leaf tips pink. Try experimenting with different colors for shading.
Fill your cup or pot up with rocks. If you do not have enough rocks to fill the entire cup, you can put newspaper, napkins, fabric, etc. at the bottom as a filler then place the rocks on top. Place the succulent on top, and you have your faux plant!
