History sure played a significant role in the evolution of food; we owe them everything that we are enjoying on our tables right now. Despite the absence of modern cooking materials in the past, our ancestors still managed to come up with sumptuous dishes, desserts, snacks, and all sorts of beverages.
And when we talk about food, pie is probably one on your list, isn’t it? As we all know it and according to Wikipedia, pies are defined by their crusts, “A filled pie (also single-crust or bottom-crust), has pastry lining the baking dish, and the filling is placed on top of the pastry but left open. A top-crust pie has the filling in the bottom of the dish and is covered with a pastry or other covering before baking. A two-crust pie has the filling completely enclosed in the pastry shell. Shortcrust pastry is a typical kind of pastry used for pie crusts, but many things can be used, including baking powder biscuits, mashed potatoes, and crumbs.”
Well, many of us may already know a thing or two about pies, but I am betting not all of you know this. Back in 1894, there was a German apple pie that was known to be the best version of pie during that era. Sadly, nobody bakes this type of pie anymore.
