You’re a busy parent, and you’ve been rocking that messy bun/disheveled topknot look for two weeks straight now. You’re tired of it but can’t get over the fact that it requires little-to-no work. I. Completely. Understand. If you’re getting bored with your hair but don’t have an hour (or arm strength) to French/fishtail/waterfall braid your hair into a more polished look, try these. They only take minutes to do.
Look 1
You’ll need:
Straightening iron, hairspray/hair serum, 10 minutes
Let it all hang down! Just because you’re a busy mom doesn’t mean that you can’t get away with having flowing hair brushing against your shoulders. Dulce has hair that falls on the more straight-wavy side, so straightening it out to polish it is very quick. For the curlier haired gals or guys out there trying to recreate these looks, don’t worry! You don’t have to straighten your hair to achieve these. Just do this (air drying with a twist) or this (best for very curly natural hair) instead of spending time straightening it all out. This look is about embracing your texture, a.k.a. it will take less than 10 minutes to do this. Score!
Look 2
You’ll need:
Bobby pins, texturizing cream (hair clay or hair putty), 5 minutes
Maybe you don’t want it all hanging down. Your busy lifestyle means you can’t have hair flying all over your face. This look is a great transition and/or compromise from Look 1. Separate a section of hair from above your ear to your hairline. Repeat on the other side of the head. Twist the section back from the temples of your face toward the crown of your head. Pin it back there. Repeat on the other side. Let the rest of your hair flow down.
Look 3
You’ll need:
Faux braid headband, bobby pins, 5 minutes
Now we’ll move into a hairstyle that keeps it all back. The faux braid only looks like it took you a ton of time and effort. Make sure to find one that closely matches your hair color. Throw your hair up into that trusty topknot, secure with pins, and plop that faux braid headband onto your head. Boom.
Look 4
You’ll need:
Hair tie, Hair elastics in matching hair color, 5 minutes
The thing I love about this particular hairstyle is that you can do this with dirty hair. Hey, we’ve all been there. Sometimes you just can’t wash your hair before you have to run out the door. This will hide all of that. Tie your hair back and secure it into a ponytail with a hair tie. Using the smaller elastics, tie the ponytail into smaller sections. Fluff each section up by gently tugging them apart.
