Cats scratch and there’s no way around it. But there is something you can do to prevent them from completely tearing up your home.

Spray Your Cat
Spraying your cat with a water bottle will deter it from scratching at your furniture. For best results, try not to let your cat see you spraying him or her. You want the cat to associate the water spray with scratching the furniture and not you. This way they will avoid clawing at your furniture whether you are home or not.
