When I came across a picture of a laced window on the Internet, I knew it would make a perfect project for home. They add a bit of elegance to any room, and even allow for some privacy. The light in the morning looks amazing too!
It looked like it might be a challenge, but when I thought through the materials I would need, it actually turned out to be pretty simple.
Here’s a step by step guide on how you can make one for yourself!
Step 1
Purchase some lace fabric from your favorite crafts store. Be sure to get something to fit the room of the window you are thinking of.
Step 2
Mix up some starch jelly. Grab 2 tablespoons of cornflour and add an equal amount of cold water. Then boil a cup and a half of water on the kettle, and add it to your cold water and cornflour mix.
Step 3
Don’t soak your lace fabric in starch mixture, instead, grab a brush and paint a light spread across your window.
Step 4
Cut a rectangle or square out of your lace to fit whatever size window you need. Be sure to use an iron to remove and wrinkles in the lace, if there are any.
Step 5
Drape the lace over the painted window, then paint another layer of starch over the lace. Be sure to keep your brush strokes in mind, so that you can keep them consistent.
Step 6
Then all you have to do is let the laced window and starch dry. Your room will be looking completely different in no time!
