Getting a good haircut can be life-changing. It’s a method of self-care. A way for us to make a new start and a feeling of leaving the past behind.
And for a Chef named Alex all the signs said he was ready to let the past go by getting a new look.
“I found this article that says if you get a haircut you’ll feel better,” Alex said.
And who better to give you a makeover than the Makeover Guy himself, Christopher Hopkins?
As fate would have it, that’s exactly who ended up cutting Alex’s hair.
“And then I ran into you the exact same day and you were like let’s get a makeover, it will make you feel better,” Alex told Christopher.
The revelation made Christopher’s jaw drop.
“I just thought it was awesome,” Alex said.
Alex was trying to get over some past relationships
“My previous girlfriend broke up with me. My most recent girlfriend has broken up with me, I’m 30 years old,” Alex said.
He was happy to learn that, according to Christopher, he’s just hitting his prime.
“Is it? Do I still have time?” asked Alex.
Alex had extremely long rock star hair that he hadn’t cut in four or five years.
“I feel like I should be praying,” Christopher said.
“To Jesus?” asked Alex.
And Christopher confirmed.
“You’d do great drag,” Christopher joked.
Soon after that he lobbed off a large chunk of Alex’s hair so that it was shoulder length.
“You’ve got a bob,” laughed Christopher.
Christopher had a little fun playing around with the piece of Alex’s that he cut off.
“We have a bald cook we can put this on his head and it will be good,” Alex joked.
Alex admitted that his previous look wasn’t the best for him.
“My long hair and my straggly beard, my confidence has been deteriorating,” he explained.
In the past, his goal had been to please the lady in his life but he’s doing thing differently nowadays.
“To make my significant other happy,” Alex said. “but now I’m trying to make myself happy.”
And that haircut really did the trick. So did the new shave. Alex absolutely loved his new look.
And so did everyone in his restaurant.
“You’re looking fine as hell,” one of the women at his job told him.
“Oh my God, who are you?” asked one of the guy’s in the kitchen.
“Alex, it looks amazing!” said another co-worker.
Alex hoping his new look will help him to gain confidence and meet that special someone.
“I went on a date just the other week and she wanted to pay and I insisted. And I can tell it made her feel good and that she went on first dates prior to me and it’s been like splitting the bill and it’s like no, even if we were having a terrible time I’d insist on paying,” Alex said. “My girlfriend is my number one priority when I have one. I’m the whole package.”
