How often do you find yourself scrubbing your oven?

If you’re like most people, it’s probably not as often as you should. Over time, all those spills from roasts, casseroles, and pies can really add up.

And let’s be honest, no one likes the lingering smell of yesterday’s dinner.

Mr. Gizmo’s method is not only quick but also uses ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.

Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it’s not.

All you need are three simple ingredients: baking soda, vinegar, and a bit of water.

You might be wondering why baking soda and vinegar are the go-to cleaning agents here.

Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is a natural abrasive that can break down organic matter without scratching surfaces.

Vinegar, on the other hand, is acidic and excels at removing tough stains.

What makes this combo even more fascinating is the science behind it.

Baking soda is alkaline, while vinegar is acidic. When you mix them together, they neutralize each other, creating a powerful cleaning reaction.

It’s chemistry at its finest, and it’s all happening right in your oven!

Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. Here’s what you’ll need to gather before you start:

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar in a spray bottle
  • Old kitchen rags
  • A small bowl
  • Silicone spatula
  • Silicone scraper
  • A pair of disposable gloves

First things first, make sure your oven is cool. Then, mix baking soda and water in a bowl to create a paste.

Using a silicone spatula, spread this paste all over the interior of your oven.

If you’re in a hurry, you can even use your gloved hand to smear it around. Don’t worry if the paste changes color; that means it’s working its magic.

Once you’ve applied the paste, let it sit for at least 12 hours.

This gives the baking soda time to break down all the grime. After the wait, you’ll notice the paste has mostly dried up.

Use a silicone scraper to remove it, revealing a much cleaner surface underneath.

Now, wipe down the oven with a wet rag until no traces of baking soda remain. Finally, give it a good spray with vinegar.

If the vinegar smell isn’t your thing, add a few drops of lemon essential oil to the spray bottle.

The vinegar not only acts as a disinfectant but also helps to eliminate any remaining odors.
