When Chris Sawey graduated from Emerson College in Massachusetts, he chose to do something rather unusual. Most college graduates would travel to faraway places like Europe and Asia, but Chris chose to travel the United States and live out of his Toyota Prius.
Dubbing his makeshift home, Hotel Prius, Chris traveled across the country to assist restaurant startup businesses.
One day, while in Nashville, Tennessee, an idea came to Chris. He enjoyed his road trip experience, but he felt that there was more to it than just Hotel Prius. Thus, the idea of Motel Camper was born.
Chris purchased a 80-square-foot vintage camper and decided to remodel and transform it into a wonderful place to live.
Motel Camper became Chris’s home, but he felt others should enjoy it as well. Chris believed that others would enjoy the minimalistic lifestyle that came with living in a 1962 Vintage Beeline Camper.
He put Motel Camper up on AirBnB, and now, people everywhere can stay there whenever they visit Austin, Texas.
Transforming and remodeling the camper was a tough challenge for Chris. He put a lot of thought and effort into it. He wanted a functional camper that was sleek and modern.
Keeping the vintage feeling of the camper in tact was hard when trying to upgrade it to reflect modern times. Chris meshed the vintage interior decoration with modern touches like a large flat screen television.
Every inch of this camper is fully utilized. There’s no wasted space.
Organization is key when living in such a tight space.
The twin bed converts into a cozy, intimate setting where guests can lounge and relax.
The camper has many whimsical features such as outdoor stringed lights, patio area, and even fun messages scattered throughout.
There’s even WiFi access at this camper!
If you love to cook, then Motel Camper has you covered. There’s a variety of kitchen accessories that will satisfy any chef’s needs.
Other amenities include a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, refrigerator/freezer, and sink.
If if you like to grill, there’s a state-of-the-art grill available to guests.
A private outdoor shower is set up behind the camper for those who need a bath.
All the water for Motel Camper is either source from rainwater or a garden hose when rainfall is low. Chris installed a top-notch filtration system that filters water and funnels it into a bucket outside to the nearby garden.
Isn’t this place just lovely? I would totally live here for a few days!
You can find Motel Camper on AirBnB.
