Life is your playground.
Any inanimate object has so much potential, just waiting to be turned into something inconceivable.
That’s how Lulu views life. With a handful of kids and no time, she’s gone to extremes to set up a sustainable living situation.
As a single mom, turning a shipping container into an adorable tiny home was more than just a DIY project – it was the pathway to a new life.
After being gifted a large shipping container, Lulu turned it into something special!
She gives us a tour of her tiny home in an interview, detailing her mindset during the building process. Lulu predicated her architecture on a shed.
“It’s really mostly built like a shed. It’s a nice looking shed, but it’s really an eight by 16 shed with windows in it.”
It’s since transcended the simple shed.
Lulu’s new life includes a new home on the range in California.
“When you don’t have money you just have to get creative.”
She’s absolutely right. A little ingenious creativity goes a long way.
Take a step outside.
The outer reaches of the shipping container are spectacular.
The foliage and garden add to the ambiance of Lulu’s tiny home.
“I had to move out of the house I was living in and a friend said: ‘Why don’t you just build something?’”
Nothing beats creating something.
Putting your soul into your work can yield the grandest achievements.
Lulu’s life changed with a free gift, but some of it’s been scary.
“I think I’m a little claustrophobic so the storage container was a little daunting.”
The exterior features tasteful contrasting colors.
One of Lulu’s favorite spots is the porch.
The upstairs features a bed big enough for a litter of children! How many children can you count?
Lulu definitely has her hands full.
“It’s really well insulated. If anything, it gets too hot.”
Well, warm air does rise!
The bathroom’s both cute and compact.
It’s nothing luxurious, but it takes care of their needs with ease.
Considering that this is in a shipping container, I’d say it’s pretty darn lavish.
There’s beauty in simplicity. As Shakespeare wrote in Hamlet, “Brevity is the soul of wit.”
The shipping container tiny home is surrounded by beautiful fields and clumps of trees.
Life’s not too bad out here. Lulu and the kids have all of their needs met.
Plus, the view out the window is sublime!
