What better way to get your kids to read than by making books come to life in your home! One mother named Pippa Branham did just that for her daughter when she moved into a new home.
Because her child is getting around the age where she’s learning to read, Branham decided to create a bookshelf themed staircase that’s safe, durable, and affordable. The expenses for the entire project were only $238, and the staircase only ended up weighing about 180 pounds!
The staircase isn’t just bookshelf themed too, it functions as an actual bookshelf as well. What a creative and crafty mom!
Branham and her husband are residents of Liverpool, England, and they first moved into their new home last year. They decided they wanted to childproof the home because their kids were getting older, and much more active.
At first, she had only planned to install carpeting around the house. Then, when she saw some ideas on Pinterest, the gears started turning and she came up with a brilliant bookshelf idea.
The bookshelf uses a list of her favorite books, which are also one’s that she hopes were daughter will come to enjoy.
It features “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” by Lewis Carrol, “Wolves of the Calla,” by Stephen King, “The Hobbit,” and “The Lord of the Rings,” by J.R.R. Tolkien, “Game of Thrones,” by George R.R. Martin, and “The Old Man and the Sea,” by Ernest Hemingway– among other classical, timeless works of literature.
She was able to bring together copies of those books and then she even went so far as to paint the covers of them on the steps of the staircase.
The finished product looks stunning and it seems like her daughter is loving it too!
