Boiling water.

It might not be the first method you think of to kill weeds, but tossing boiling water on them is an absolutely safe and effective way to do it. Simple and to the point, pour a pan of boiling water over a weed and it will not bother you much longer.

Pour salt on them.

Another method to kill weeds is to pour salt on them. The most effective method is to mix two parts boiling water with 1 part salt and pour them on top. This should take care of the weeds more effectively than just boiling water alone.

Get those weeds drunk.

Weeds can’t handle booze very well, so a good way to get rid of them from your lawn is to get them drunk. Mix 2 cups of water with 1 cup of vodka and put it in a spray bottle. You can also add in a little dish soap to the mix. After spraying, the weeds should become dehydrated and die out.

A flavorful mixture

Many people have reported that the following mixture is a safe and effective way to remove weeds without using pesticides. Mix 1 gallon of vinegar with 1 cup of salt, and then add in a tiny bit of citrus oil and a small amount of dish soap.

Put the mixture in a spray bottle and then just spray it wherever weeds have started to crop up.

Suffocate the weeds.

It doesn’t get much more simple than this method. You can kill off any weeds that have grown on your lawn by cutting off their source of sunlight.

Place newspaper, magazines, cardboard, or similar items over top of the weeds. This will prevent sunlight from reaching the weeds and they will eventually die off.

Your lawn might look a little messy for a while, but you’ll eventually be free from all those pesky weeds.

Grow your lawn out.

One of the best and most natural ways to keep weeds from sprouting on your lawn is to grow your lawn out. Thick and healthy grass will block weeds from sprouting by taking up more space. You will just want to be careful about using too much fertilizer, even natural brands, as this can harm your grass.

Cornmeal makes the weeds stay away.

Cornmeal can be an effective method to prevent weeds from reproducing. Spreading cornmeal over the top of weeds won’t kill them but it will make it harder for their seeds to spread.

Pull them out by hand.

It’s definitely not the most fun method, but pulling those suckers out with your hands is as effective as it gets to remove weeds. One method for hand-weeding for parents of young children is to simply wait until your child misbehaves and then give them this task as punishment.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to hand pull, a hula-ho is going to be your best friend.
