Red shipping container may look boring on the outside but inside it has everything you need
We never would have imagined this plain old shipping container would make such a great home!

It is common knowledge that Americans like their houses big. In fact, the United States Census Bureau reports that in the year 2014, the average size of a new house in the U.S. was more than 2,400 square feet.

However, over the last few years, more and more people have been downsizing and opting for tiny homes that come with a wide range of benefits for them.

From micro-apartments to tiny luxury homes to shipping container homes, Americans have found ways to use small spaces to their advantage and make the most of them.

Some of the benefits that tiny homes offer are, for instance, the low expenses they come with, which allow owners to save for retirement or any other purpose really. Also, living small means no mortgage for almost 70% of the cases, unlike those who buy “proper” houses.

At the same time, living in a tiny home translates to lower energy use- good both for your wallet and the environment-, easier maintenance and a simpler life which, in turn, translates to more laid back living, reduced stress levels and an overall feeling of happiness and fulfilment.

What if you need to throw away some stuff because your new, tiny home can’t fit everything? What if entertainment is limited in the tiny house? The advantages it offers outweigh the disadvantages and it’s worth a try- even only for the experience.

In this home tour, we are taking a look at what looks like a regular shipping container on the outside, but is really an elegant and practical home on the inside.

Right, by looking at this shipping container, one can’s tell it really is a house inside, unless they look at the cute white door on the side.

A simple patio table and potted plants welcome the visitor once they arrive. Now, stepping inside the house, it is immediately obvious that it is not your average tiny home. It has been built with attention to detail and with elegance in mind.

First of all, there’s the kitchen. Nothing basic about it.

Full-sized fridge, sink, full-sized oven and stovetop, and plenty of counter space are some of the elements that make this kitchen unique and a pleasure to cook in. Of course, there’s lots of storage space, too, which is what every cook wants.

Moving on to the living room, one can only admire the wooden floors, the ceiling lights that emulate skylights, and the high ceilings that make the room bright and airy and make it look so much bigger than it actually is.

Further inside, we can find the bedroom, which fits one king-sized bed and some shelves for storage. There’s also a flat-screen TV so that the owners can relax and enjoy their favorite TV shows.

Of course, an A/C unit couldn’t be missing, since it is necessary for hot or colder months.

What about the bathroom? A toilet, shower, washer and dryer are everything a home-owner can ask for! This room, too, has been designed so that it exudes a sense of rustic country chic, combined with modern elements.
