Have you ever dreamed of hitting the road and never looking back? Exploring the great outdoors, seeing all of the beautiful sights of the countryside, and living like a true nomad? If so, when you see the Trillium Caravan, it will completely steal your heart.
The gypsy-style Trillium Caravan was built using traditional materials and antique fixtures while maintaining all the modern conveniences and amenities of today.
The home was designed and built by Jim Tolpin, a famed woodworker, teacher, and artist from the Port Townsend School of Woodworking in Washington. What he ended up creating was a mobile tiny home that is a combination of whimsy, adventure, and romance.
To enter the Trillium Caravan, just step up the hand-carved and painted wood step, and enter through the split Dutch door.
The handcrafted step is removable for when the caravan is in stow. The split Dutch door is unlike traditional Dutch doors in the fact that the top half has two windows that open like French doors. It was also hand-carved with stained glass and hand-painted details.
Once inside the magical caravan, you’ll first notice the cozy bed nestled by the bay window, adorned with pillows covered in Scalamandre fabrics.
The queen-size bed is perfect for two people to sleep comfortably. Notice that the light-colored canvas roof illuminates the caravan with a gorgeous, soft glow. There is also ample storage beneath the bed in the form of cabinets and small drawers.
A wider view of the caravan show’s the home’s seating area with a small table that doubles as a dresser.
The same vintage fabrics from the 1920’s were used to upholster the seats as well; there is hidden storage underneath. The flooring seen here is made from durable, high-quality bamboo.
Need more dining or working space? No problem, just slide out the hidden table from under the bed.
Don’t worry about staying warm in the Trillium Caravan; there is plenty of heat from the small woodstove.
The stove also serves a cooking unit for a kettle or smaller meals. The Trillium Caravan truly strips life back down to the basics, in the best possible way ever.
There is a dry sink in the corner of the caravan, along with a mirror and storage for toiletries.
It seems as if the tiny hand-crafted details just seem to flourish throughout the entire home. Every inch of the space was created with art and craftsmanship in mind.
Lighting in the home is provided by sconces that were repurposed from an old Portland, Oregon hotel.
The exterior details are just as impressive.
Outside the caravan, you’ll even find a wood storage compartment with hand-tooled leather straps.
It really doesn’t get any cuter than that.
When night falls, and the air gets chilly, just retreat inside the Trillium Caravan next to the woodstove to relax and unwind. Learn more about the Trillium Caravan here.
