Slow cookers are fantastic pieces of human ingenuity, the pinnacle of cooking technology — you just throw a bunch of meat and vegetables in there, and baby, you got a stew going. But then you have to clean all the leftover food crud afterwards… or do you?
Thanks to Sarah from Life Should Cost Less, this video tutorial gives us a cleaning hack that’s sure to save you hours of hard work and precious time. Forget scraping and wiping — let your slow cooker clean itself!
First, fill your slow cooker with enough water to submerge all of the food particles.
One cup of vinegar. Do I smell… science a’brewing?
Add a cup of baking soda to the concoction, a little bit a time so as not to overflow it with foam.
Chemistry in action. The slow cooker should start foaming. Then, put a lid on and set your slow cooker to low, and then wait 4-8 hours.
After an overnight soak, this is what it should look like! Turn off the slow cooker, and open the lid to let the heat escape. Then you can rinse it out, with minimal scrubbing involved.
Easy. Get your kitchen to work for you! Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
