Considering the number of plant lovers in the world, flowers and plants are one of the most common decors for home and office.
What if you can bring the beauty of the night sky to your plants? Sounds impossible, but it’s not. If you wish to plant the best showstopper, you need to pick the burgundy-colored night sky petunias.

Night Sky Petunias, scientific name Petunia cultivars, has purple petals and white dots that look like stars. Night Sky Petunia usually bloom during spring and summer. It can grow up to 16 inches and can be planted in both indoor and outdoor locations. So, if you want to plant it inside your home or in your garden, you can do so.
But, what causes these sparkling stars’ patterns?
According to Burpee, “a large variance between day and night temperatures will cause temporary white coloring to form on the flowers.” This means the white speckles are caused by the contrasting temperatures between day and night. Thus, to guarantee your stars continuously shine, you need to keep them toasty warm during the day and cool at night.
Do you wish to have your own galaxy flower? It’s super simple and easy!
There are two ways to grow your petunias. First is you can grow them from seeds and second is you can grow them from transplants. If you wish to grow them from seeds, you need to prepare your materials.
Materials you need:
- Petunia seeds
- Pots
- Water
- Dirt/soil
The first step is to place your soil inside your pot.
Second, plant your seeds inside.
Make sure to plant them in rich soil with plenty of organic matter to get the nutrients they need. Fertilizing the plant will also help the plant produce flowers.
Third, water your seeds. Keep them indoors for 12 weeks before placing them outside.
During the first 12 weeks, you need to water them regularly. Make sure they receive lots of sunlight. After 12 weeks or when they start to have leaves, transfer them outside. Plant them in a spot with full sun, where they’ll get at least six hours of direct sunlight every day. Any less will result in your plants producing fewer flowers.
If you wish to transplant, simply plant them in rich soil after the last spring frost.
The area you plant your petunias must be exposed to the full sun and have shelter from the wind. Place the plants about 1 foot apart and fertilize monthly.
After a few weeks, you’ll have a garden full of galaxy flowers.
