With the minimalist lifestyle rising today, more and more people are starting to gain interest in tiny houses.
While there are numerous ones featured out there, there’s this particular one we just couldn’t get over.
This is a house built by Acorn Tiny Homes from D’Arcy. A tour of this beautiful home was posted on Youtube.
It’s packed with impossible functionality.
“Tiny house living for my wife and I was meant to be a form of empowerment. We had been renting for who knows how long and so we really wanted to have something that was ours,” the owner of the unique home shared.
An obvious choice.
Living in a tiny house somehow became the “natural choice” for the couple since it was a lot cheaper.
This meant that they have more time and money to spend expanding their businesses.
D’Arcy, the owner of this tiny home, is also the proprietor of Acorn Tiny Homes, a tiny home builder company in Canada.
“As a builder myself, I figured it would be a great way to challenge myself and create a new style of a tiny house,” he recounted. “My wife, throughout her pregnancy, helped me build this house and I also had my brother and my dad come and help.”
The house stands on a 32-foot trailer.
It packs in a couple of bump-outs to add more space. The home’s dimensions are 8 1/2 feet wide and 13 1/2 feet tall at its peak.
It houses a chef-style kitchen with everything laid out ergonomically. The overall feel of the kitchen is “earthy woodsy.”
To save a substantial amount of space, the couple went for a combo unit which is a convection oven, broiler, microwave, and air fryer all in one appliance.
There are also multiple space-saving elements all over the kitchen.
Over the refrigerator is their office loft that could easily be accessed through a ladder.
His wife is a naturopathic doctor.
She spends a lot of time working in the office loft. What she loves about this setup is that putting the ladder out signals a hard stop from working.
Their cat even has a window where she can just jump over into the office space to spend time with her human. What an adorable touch to the whole tiny home.
Beneath three lofts lies the living room.
This takes away some head space, but to the couple’s point, they spend most of the time in the living room sitting on the couch. That makes absolute sense!
Under the couch are deep compartments filled with single board games and other stuff they need.
The couch converts into a bed too!
“So for me, tiny house living isn’t about giving up things that are important to you. It’s about finding what hobbies and interests you have and making sure that you include a space for them in your new house,” D’Arcy remarked.
In fact, he even has a dedicated console area for his video games.
Next up? The atrium shower.
Their bath is surrounded by windows. He took inspiration for this from a Japanese house designer named Tagami Haruhiko.
Additionally, the shower has a rainfall showerhead and even a bathtub!
Now let’s move to the most relaxing part of the house: their bedroom.
Japanese influence equals comfort here.
The bedroom has a double mattress Japanese-style bed and the headboard doubles as a compartment.
Across from their bedroom is their son’s loft which has a baby gate for safety. Their cat even has her own space where she could rest and play.
Indeed, every single space in their tiny house was put to good use. The overall design is just simply breathtaking.
No wonder more and more people are switching to tiny homes!
