Wire hangers are pretty useless when it comes to hanging clothes. They are the last type of hanger you will reach for, yet we still all have a bunch of them in our closet.
Before you get all Mommy Dearest with your hangers and get rid of them all, here are 14 cool things you might want to use wire and other hangers for.
Fix a Drawstring
First, untwist the coat hanger and form it into a half circle. Then create a loop at one end. Pull the string through the loop and force it through the drawstring hole. When the loop pops out the other side you can release the string from it and pull out the wire.
Recipe Holder
You can use a hanger with clips to hang your recipe at eye level while you cook. This will keep your cookbook and recipe cards clean and free from food.
You can make a giant bubble wand by straightening out a hanger, then bending it into a circle. You can bend the hook closed to make a handle and cover it with heavy-duty tape to secure it.
Crystal Ring
Create a beautiful crystal ring that looks store-bought without the use of soldering tools. You can get the entire tutorial here.
Hang a hanger on a knob and flip a magazine or newspaper over the wire where you would hang your clothes. Boom… you have a magazine/newspaper holder that’s perfect for your bathroom reading material.
Chip Clips
You can snap the clips off the plastic pants hanger and use them as chip clips.
Bathroom Towel Hangers
Flip some hangers upside down and affix them to the wall. You can loop a towel through the top and hang one from the hook.
Make a decorative toilet paper hanger by shaping a wire hanger into a heart and twisting the bottom into a hook. You can even use this to hang necklaces or other items from.
