If you’re searching for something interesting to plant in your garden this year, look no further than the Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea.

It has a name based on Neapolitan ice cream flavors, plus, it blooms into the most beautiful flowers that we’ve ever seen.

There is no doubt that it is a sure-fire winner for this upcoming planting season.

Bursting with brilliant pink and white colors, most people do a double-take when they first walk by this lovely plant.

Technically, Hydrangeas are considered shrubs, but it’s their yearly flowers that really steal the show.

Throughout the fall and winter, they don’t really look like much.

A few brown stems shoot up from the center of the plant, with barely any remnants remaining from the previous season’s former glory.

However, come springtime, everything changes.

Those brown branches become green and leafy. Then, the real magic happens. By late spring, the Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea can be seen blossoming into giant cone-shaped flowers that are sure to make your garden the talk of the town.

These blooms continue all throughout the entire summer, lasting up until early fall depending on the climate in your area.

Hydrangeas prefer to get their sun in the morning and then bask in the shade in the afternoon.

It’s the perfect shrub to plant around the perimeter of your garden next to a fence or a gazebo. In the northern United States, you should aim to give your Hydrangeas six hours or so of sunlight per day. In the south where the sun is strong, as little as three hours per day can be enough.

When deciding where to plant them, one thing to keep in mind is how hardy these plants can be. Once they’ve established their roots, they can quickly grow to up to 15 feet tall over the course of a summer.

The blooms are so plentiful that you can easily make a bouquet with a small portion as well.

Your Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea won’t even miss the few bundles that you remove. However, the countertop in your kitchen sure will appreciate having them there. While the terms Vanilla and Strawberry in the name really only apply to the colors, it’s true that Hydrangeas in general have a very sweet fragrance.

There is no better way to make your home smell fresh and inviting than by placing a few of these fresh blooms up on the countertop.

Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangeas were first offered as an option by the Cottage Farms Nursery.

Their full video on the topic is shown below at the bottom of the page.

It should be noted though that if you lack a lot of space in your garden, it’s also possible to grow smaller Hydrangeas in flower pots. Their height and size will be limited by the amount of soil in the pot, yet, the blooms will still look just as fantastic.

Consider opting for a dwarf variety of Hydrangea should you follow this path.

There are even ones inspired by the popular Vanilla Strawberry style. For example, the Strawberry Sundae Hydrangea offered by First Editions only grows to around four feet in height.

At the minimum though, you should probably aim for a pot that’s at least 18 inches in diameter, just to be on the safe side.

No matter which variety of Hydrangea you select though, you really can’t go wrong. This shrub is sure to be a delightful addition to any garden or landscaping project.
