Everything you need to do this is already in your home. From vinegar to cola and bubble wrap, there are lots of things you can use to keep your toilet in tip-top condition.

Nail Polish

Coat the bolts and screws on your toilet and its hardware wil clear nail polish to prevent them from loosening and getting rusted.

Alka Seltzer

Pop two Alka Selzter tabs into your toilet and let them dissolve completely. Use your scrubbing brush to scrub.

Coca-Cola

Cola can dissolve rust rings. Pour a full can of it around the rim and let it fully coat your bowl. Let it soak for an hour before you scrubs. This will allow the acid to do most of the work.

Plastic Soda Bottles

You can reduce the amount of water your toilet uses in newer model toilets by filling an empty 1-liter plastic bottle with an inch or two of sand. Top it off with water and screw the lid back on.
