One of the most popular pastimes is going out for a drink. After a long, stressful week there’s nothing better than sitting back with a glass of wine, a bottle of beer, or a fruity cocktail in our hands to give us a bit of a buzz.

But what’s best about alcohol is that it can be used in so many ways. It can be mixed, shaken, and stirred. You can drink it from a fancy glass with a straw or chug it straight from the bottle without a care in the world. It’s used in cocktails, Jell-O shots, rum cake, even eggnog. You can use it for cooking, and you can freeze it into a slushie.

And for some recipes, alcohol can even be infused into fruits.

Now using fruits with alcohol is nothing new. After all, we use them for flavoring, as garnishes, even wine comes from a fruit. But what you’re tired of drinking the same cocktails over and over and want to change things up a bit? Luckily, in this age of human ingenuity, all it takes is a little thinking outside the box and a few key ingredients.

Just make a tasty, tipsy treat at home with alcohol-infused cherries.

Drunken cherries are easy to make, and their ingredients are simple and available in any grocery store. In one video by YouTube’s Tipsy Bartender, all you need are some cherries, alcohol, chocolate, and sprinkles.

First off, you’ll need maraschino cherries and your preferred drink. You’ll then need to either drain the syrup from the jar or place them into a container. After that, you soak them in the liquor of your choice.

Tipsy Bartender uses cherry vodka, but don’t worry, there’s plenty of room to experiment.

Vodka, tequila, rum, whisky can also be used. How long you should leave the cherries to infuse varies from recipe to recipe. You can leave them soaking for as little as a few hours to as long as several days. Of course, the longer they soak, the more alcohol they’ll carry.

After fishing them out, let them dry out and begin making your candy coating.

The video uses white chocolate and sprinkles. Just place the white chocolate—or any chocolate, really—into a microwave-safe bowl and fire it up for a few minutes. In the meantime, lay out a blanket of sprinkles on a plate.

Once the cherries are dry and the chocolate a melted paste, dip the little stone fruits into the chocolate and roll it over the sprinkles and let the coating cool off.

Once they’re done, they should look like miniature candied apples.

Drunken cherries are a simple but crafty little snack anyone over twenty-one can make. No matter what drink you use, they’re guaranteed to reward your sweet tooth and punish your liver.
