Man turns plastic soda bottles into gorgeous hanging planters
I'm amazed at how beautiful this turned out. It adds such a brilliant pop of color while keeping waste out of the landfill at the same time.

Decorating your home is extremely satisfying.

It’s a way to express yourself to the world and to create a space that makes you feel comfortable.

It’s not always cheap to decorate your home, however. Some websites and stores charge quite a bit in order to purchase the decorations that they are selling.

Luckily, you don’t have to spend a fortune decorating your home if you choose to go the DIY route.

This option is much cheaper and allows you to get creative in your own home. It allows you to reuse materials that would otherwise be destined for the dump.

Take this awesome hanging planter, for example.

It looks great and gives that plastic soda bottle a new use besides sitting in a trash can or worse, somewhere out in the environment.

If this seems like a project you’d like to take on then check out these steps to create your very own.

First, you’re going to need an empty soda bottle. You can use whatever size you’d like.

This one is 2 liters.

Next, you’ll need to draw lines on the bottle designating where you’re going to cut out your pattern.

You’re welcome to create this exact pattern or come up with your own!

Get some scissors

Once you have your lines drawn, it’s time to cut them out.

In this example, they use the bottle cap to create a nice rounded border on the bottom.

Then, using a lighter, you can heat up the rounded edges and give them a little outward bend with your fingers.

This is where the whimsy comes in.

Once you’ve got your bottle cut out the way you like it, you’ll need to create a loop to hang it from.

For this, all you’ll need to do is poke two holes in the top of the bottle cap.

Then take a zip tie and loop it through the holes, connecting it together underneath the cap.

Now just screw it on!

Next, you’ll want to paint your bottle to help disguise the fact that that’s actually what it is.

You can choose to paint your bottle whatever color you’d like!

The only limit here is your creativity.

Once you’ve got it painted and looking nice, you’ll need to fill it with some potting soil.

Then go ahead and plant your favorite flower seeds into the soil. You can even add clippings from plants that are able to reroot themselves.

Don’t forget to water them!

In no time, your new hanging planter will be full of beautiful flowers.

Just make sure that you hang it somewhere that the plant can get plenty of sunshine so it can grow big and strong.

There, it looks great!
